Introducing Marina Fox, wife to Andrew and mum to Piper, 10 and Charlotte, 8. They share their household with pets Posey, the rabbit, and Claude, the cat.

Marina navigates being a mum with a very busy real estate business, where she operates primarily in conjunction with the property management team.

Marina, you make the work/life balance look easy. Tell us how you stay organized and on top of a hectic working schedule and children’s busy activities....

What is a typical day like for you?

The girls catch the bus at 7.20am, which means a 6am start, I usually try to squeeze a run on the treadmill, then head to the office.

How do you find time for yourself and how do you relax?

I try to go to the gym 3 times a week and love to do hot yoga.

What’s your go-to busy mummy mid week meal

My go to easy weekday meal is Basil Pesto Pasta

Ingredients:

  • Basil Pesto Pasta
  • 80g Toasted pine nuts
  • 90g Sweet basil pesto
  • 12 Slices of prosciutto
  • 500g Fresh angel hair pasta
  • 800g Slow roasted tomatoes
  • Balsamic glaze
  • 40g Fresh Parmesan

Method

Preheat oven to 150. Place tomatoes cut side up and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast for 40 minutes or until shriveled.

Preheat oven to grill. Lay prosciutto on baking tray and grill for 2 minutes each side until crispy. Cool for 5 minutes then break into pieces.

Meanwhile, cook pasta in a saucepan of boiling water until tender. Drain.

You’ve just done a stunning renovation on your home, what is the most important advice you could pass on about doing extension/home improvements.

Always go with your initial gut feeling as I found the longer I looked around at tiles the more overwhelmed I got and ended up going back to my original choice.

You’ve obviously got a flair for interiors, where did you get your inspiration from?

I get inspiration from magazines, blogs and also I love looking around at my favorite homewares stores like Maple, Aptoz Cruz and Hugo Michell Galleries.

Who’s your favourite style icon?

Christy Turlington-Burns- I loved her in the 90s and I think that she has maintained an effortless natural style, and remains classic and ageless.

What do you like most about the Sally Phillips label?

The ability to wear the pieces all year round and to easily mix previous seasons with the current collection.

Dream purchase?

As I grew up in the South East, my dream purchase would be a beautiful country house. Somewhere not far from the city, to take the girls on the weekends to spend time outdoors.

Dream holiday destination?

I would love to spend 6 months in a villa in Italy and slowly explore the different countryside, culture and cuisine.

I would spend the most perfect weekend......

My perfect weekend would be just pottering around at home but these days they are usually spent running my girls around to swimming, sport and parties. If we are not out on a Saturday night I usually like to do a yummy leg of lamb and lots of roast vegies.

Little list of love....

  • Laughing until you cry.
  • Cashmere
  • Sleep ins
  • Fresh Flowers
  • Rain on rooftops
  • A house that has just been cleaned

We met with Fiona Grieve, mum to Oliver (12), Dougal (10) and Scarlett (6), who recently re-established her teaching career and runs her family foundation to help working mums, achievable work/life goals and that balance!

Fee, it’s busy days for you running a household with 3 children, your husband, 2 pets and a career in teaching. How do you manage to juggle your work and kids and still find time for yourself?

I’m a relief teacher, so I don't work every day. It’s not always easy as I don't know when the call will come but I really enjoy teaching and I work mostly at the schools my children attend so that makes pick up and drop off handy! I take time out most days to exercise, so that’s a little bit of time for me.

What do you love most about teaching?

Definitely the children. I’m so lucky that I work at the same few schools so I get to know the children really well. I hope I am making a difference in some way.

What’s your go-to busy mummy mid week meal?

I don’t love cooking! I’m that person who just does BBQ’s with friends as I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I want the food to be perfect but I’m pretty sure its not! Mid week meal for the children would be Pasta Bolognese or Apricot Chicken. My children have sport most nights and all 5 of us are coming and going at different times, its a juggling act.

Favourite way to relax?

A glass of wine with dinner, a walk with the dog can help my stress levels or just watching a good show on tv, I love Suits!

Favourite style icon?

I don’t follow anyone in particular but if I had to say one, I like Olivia Palermo’s style. She's understated but chic!

What do you like most about the Sally Phillips label?

They are cut so beautifully and can be dressed up or down. For a night out I always find I end up in Sally’s clothes as they are fail safe and they make me feel good.

Dream purchase?

Sally’s wardrobe!!

Dream holiday destination?

I’d love to take the children to Paris but otherwise anywhere warm and tropical.

Describe a perfect weekend for you……

A sleep-in would be amazing, with so much sport these days, we never get the chance to just laze around in the mornings. I love to walk the dog on the weekend with the children, potter in the garden, followed by a delicious dinner out at night with good friends. A girls long lunch is high on my list too if I could sneak that in as well, my weekend would be brilliant.

Little list of loves:

  • My family and friends
  • Fresh linen
  • Hot showers
  • RPM classes
  • Mojitos
  • Art
  • Date and coconut balls

Fee in a flash:

Coffee or tea? Coffee

Introducing Melissa Codling, mum to Lucy (20) and Millie(18). We chatted with Melissa about her gorgeous newly finished home, her experiences with building and her career as a travel agent

Mel, you’ve obviously got a real passion for travel, have your personal experiences influenced your choice of career?

I do love anything travel. After 16 years of being a stay at home Mum, the opportunity came up to work part time at “The Don't Forget Travel Group” as a travel adviser and it’s a good fit, time to do something for me.

Where has been the best travel destination so far for you?

Best travel destination would probably be skiing in Canada. It ticks all the right boxes for a great family holiday. It’s so spectacular being on top of a mountain taking it all in. I would love to improve my skiing ability so I can enjoy it even more. Even if you’re not a skier, you'll find something to do in a ski resort.

Where would you go for your dream holiday?

My dream holiday…that’s a big question with too many destinations to list. I love the thought of spending time on the Amalfi Coast with good food, wine and of course that view, hopefully one day I’ll get to experience it.

Now that you have completed your new home, where to next?

We've built our home for our old age so we plan to stay put.

What advice would you give to those about to embark on a major home project?

Patience, patience when planning a new build. When you’re ready to start, you want it to happen now. Making a rushed decision can be costly in the long run.

Establishing a good relationship with your architect and builder, because lets face it, they get to know all the good and bad.

Always allow extra funds when at costing stage, everything costs more than what you think. Go without and wait until you get what you really want.

You’ve obviously got a real flair for interiors, where do you find your inspiration for your beautiful home?

I can't take all the credit for the interiors. I had a fantastic interior decorator helping me. I love researching interiors and spent countless hours doing it. It’s still a work in progress, waiting for those pieces I really want.

Favourite style icon?

Without a doubt Olivia Palermo, nothing that girl wears looks bad!

What do you like most about the Sally Phillips collections?

I’ve been wearing Sally Phillips for many years now and still bring out the old favourites. I’m probably the girl that needs help with what goes with what. Comfortable daywear for me is always hard to find, but Sally just gets it right.

Little list of loves:

  • Family
  • A good nights sleep
  • Gin and Tonic
  • Weekends away with the girls
  • Port Douglas
  • Hot Showers

Meet Chloe Swale, recently recruited to the dynamic Fox Real Estate team, where she fills the role of Marketing Co Ordinator. We met with Chloe to chat about fashion, fun, her new career and goals for the future. We were delighted to meet her French bulldog puppy Albert (Bertie).

What is a typical day like for you?

Every day at work is different for me and I love that about my job. Fox is filled with so many different personalities, so it’s always a lot of fun. My role is Marketing Coordinator so I work closely with the Sales Agents most days helping them prepare for the sale of properties. This involves me helping to co-ordinate the sales process, from creating signboards and brochures and publishing them onto the internet, to building the weekly advertisements for marketing purposes.

Favourite aspect of your job?

I love property, so working with agents choosing the photos for properties to help develop the best possible marketing campaign for clients is really satisfying. I think the best part of my job is the way everyone in the business gets along and supports each other. Fox is also involved in a lot of exciting events and charities so there are always opportunities to get involved to meet people and to learn more about the industry.

How do you relax and spend down time?

I usually to go to the beach in my down time, or catch up with friends.

What do you love about the Sally Phillips label?

I love Victoria Beckham’s effortless style.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to live in Melbourne eventually.

I recently went to New York and loved it! But for a quick weekend I'd be just as happy heading down to the beach at Silver Sands.

Where is your favourite place to go out on a Saturday night in Adelaide?

The Royal Croquet Club is my favorite when it’s on, but usually I will find myself at Super California.

Meet Bec Hoffmann, owner of the fabulous Birdcage boutique and Mum to Harry (5) and Lola (3).

Bec makes juggling motherhood and career appear effortless as she navigates her days with precisional organisation and ease.

As a mother of young children and owner of a busy fashion business, tell us the secret to the perfect work/life balance..........
(if there is such a thing!)

The best decision I made with the business was to set up a home office when pregnant with Harry. We have this very unique household that works around an office with 3 amazing staff and the kids all in together. It means I can be cooking the kids dinner while chatting to the girls about appointments for the following day.

How do you find time for yourself?

I book it in like any other appointment. My amazing mum, who runs the business with me, has the kids most Tuesday nights. This is date night for Mark and I. If he’s interstate then it’s a rare moment to have the house to myself.

What’s your favourite way to relax?

I am a yoga fanatic, even if I can only find 5 minutes to myself in the day I will use it to bend and stretch!

Who’s your favourite style icon?

Gwyneth Paltrow for day and Victoria Beckham for night.

What are the 5 best wardrobe staples to have?

  • A great pair of jeans.
  • Classic canvas sneaker.
  • Sally Phillips white shirt.
  • LBD.
  • An amazing pair of statement heels.

What do you like most about the Sally Phillips label?

She is everything I like about fashion. Amazing quality, fabulous and flattering fit and stunning fabrications. Her pieces can be mixed to create so many different looks and never look dated.

How would you describe the most perfect weekend?

Rolling out of bed at 9am (I wish!), then straight to a yoga class, followed by an afternoon with friends and kids eating and drinking. My all time favourite Sundays are spent with my mum and sister cooking up a feast while our kids play, bliss!

Dream purchase?

A Cartier love bracelet is top of my wishlist.

Dream holiday destination?

I would love to get a group of great friends together and do an independent walking tour through France. Some friends did this a few years ago and it ticked all my boxes. They set you off each day with a packed lunch and a map to the next village, where you wine and dine, then onto the next village and so on.

Little list of loves:

  • My kids
  • Dark chocolates
  • Early nights
  • Shoes, Campari
  • Yoga
  • Art

The Sally Phillips girls were delighted to sit down and get to know the interesting and charismatic Georgina McGuinNess. Georgina is married to Tony and is a mother to three daughters, Lucy, Charlotte, Belle son Oscar all in their late teens and early 20s. A journalist by trade, with an amazing career accumulating many years on TV followed by a role in politics, Georgina is currently running a media relations consultancy business. Belle Thomas, Georgina’s youngest daughter, who is studying Civil and Environmental Engineering and Finance, joined us for the day.

As a mother of 4 children how do you find time for yourself?

Georgina: As the children get older, it becomes easier and certainly less physically demanding. Running is my preferred “opt out” with reading a close second.

What do you find most satisfying about being a mother?

Georgina: A big question that could have a long answer but in short, watching them grow into happy, healthy, hard working and kind people satisfies me most.

What advice have or would you give your children for their careers?

Georgina: Work out what you want to do and get on with it. You will learn far more from your mistakes than your success. Be nice.

What is the best advice you’ve been given about fashion?

Georgina: You get what you pay for.

What advice has your mum been given about fashion?

Belle: Like mum said, you get what you pay for!

What is your favorite bar/restaurant in Adelaide?

Belle: I actually really love the Asian restaurant Thanh Thanh. It’s just off Gouger st and it’s cheap, quick, fresh and super yummy. Perfect for a low key night out as a uni student!

Who is your style icon?

Belle: No other than Sally herself! She’s so cool and knows exactly what suits all of us.

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

Belle: The main thing I love about it is that it really is for all ages. I always have the option to wear something that mum has or I can get a piece that I know I won’t have to share!

How do you approach getting dressed each day?

Belle: I spend a lot of my time at Uni so I usually just chuck on a shirt and jeans, but with Sally’s stuff I know it’ll always look effortlessly cool.

What is your approach to health and wellbeing?

Belle: I’m not a big gym-goer so I like to do activities like bike riding and walking which I can do with a friend and spend the whole time talking. I try to eat well and drink heaps of water.

What is your dream purchase?

Belle: I do like to picture myself driving around in a brand new Rolls Royce, but don’t see it happening anytime in the near future!

What is your dream holiday destination?

Belle: I’d be happy for a holiday anywhere to be honest! I just love getting out of Adelaide whenever I can, whether it’s overseas or just to Pt Elliot.

What is the most memorable destination you have been to?

Belle: The time my family and I went on safari through Tanzania, Africa.

How do you relax?

Belle: I relax by just being organised, it’s such a good feeling and actually really calms me!

How is your ideal way to spend your weekend?

Belle: Maybe dinner at Thanh Thanh on Friday, drinks with friends on Saturday night and smash out some Uni work on Sunday, with a family roast on Sunday night.

Little list of loves:

Georgina:
  • Clean sheets
  • Hot showers
  • 9 hours sleep
  • Board games with the children

Introducing the innovative and endearing Olivia Macdonald, 34, the loving Mum of three beautiful and cheeky little boys, Harry (9), Charlie (6) & Eddie (4), & wife to gorgeous Benn. Working as an Interior Stylist, Liv is passionate about furniture, art and design which you can see throughout her gorgeous home. The Macdonalds love catching up with family and friends, and their door is always open to visitors!

As a mother of young children how do you find time for yourself?

I don’t have a lot of free time to myself, but I find starting the day with an early morning walk or jog gives me some space to breathe. Catching up with girlfriends for a glass of bubbles is quite self-indulgent too!

How do you juggle your work commitments with being a mother?

It’s taken me a while, but I’ve learnt not to take on too much at once. I work part-time so that I have a good balance between work & family life and that allows me some flexibility too. It’s really important for me to be available to be with the boys when they need me, but I also feel more fulfilled when I’m working. I’m lucky that my husband is very helpful with the kids and at home so things don’t fall apart if my work is demanding!

What has motherhood taught you so far?

Not to sweat the small stuff! Life with kids is unpredictable & sometimes things just don’t go to plan. Being a mother can be pretty overwhelming at times, but I try not to put too much pressure on myself. I’m still learning to be more tolerant and patient!

As an interior stylist what is your design philosophy?

I think it’s important to be true to your style and be confident with it! Our home is a reflection of our family, our lifestyle and the things that are special to us. I love quality furniture and fittings that have timeless appeal, but love to mix things up with interesting artwork, lighting and decorative touches.

What is your favourite room of your home and why?

It’s a bit strange, and it’s not really a room, but I love our hallway. I love it’s simplicity, and it also houses some favourite artworks that we’ve collected over the years. I always feel happy walking through the front door! I love little Eddie’s room too – I think it would be pretty cool to have a bunk bed like that as a kid!!

Have you always been creative?

Yes, always. I loved drawing, painting & making as a child, & always had a little project on the go. And I can’t tell you how many times I painted my bedroom when I was growing up - everything from lilac, lime green, yellow to navy blue. I should have known what I was destined to do!

What is your favorite bar/restaurant in Adelaide?

Melt on King William Rd is our local go-to. It’s great for a relaxed lunch or dinner with the kids, but also perfect for a few wines with Benn or girlfriends! We’ve recently discovered Whistle and Flute too. It has a really cool vibe and the food is delicious.

What is the best advice you’ve been given about fashion?

Quality over quantity. I would prefer to have fewer pieces that I absolutely love and know that I’ll always be happy and comfortable wearing them.

Who is your style icon?

I’ve never followed anyone in particular, but I can’t go past Olivia Palermo. Her style is so effortless and she never seems to get it wrong!

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

Sally’s fabrics are always special and individual, giving her label a point of difference. I love that her pieces can easily take you from day to night and can be dressed up or down. Often they are trans seasonal and can be mixed and matched from season to season.

How do you approach getting dressed each day?

It’s generally quite haphazard, to be honest, and usually revolves around what washing I have clean! In saying that, I usually feel most comfortable when I’ve had time to plan what I wear. I always aim to be organised and lay out my outfit the night before, but it rarely happens!

What is your approach to health and wellbeing?

All in moderation! Good food, good friends, good fun, a bit of exercise and a bit (or a lot) of champagne!!

What is your dream purchase?

Art is my true passion, so a beautiful artwork would always be my top pick. I’d love a piece by Sally Gabori – I’ll just keep dreaming!!

What is your dream holiday destination?

We haven’t ventured too far with the kids as it’s not exactly relaxing, but we’re happy wherever there’s sun, sand and good food. We’d love to take the boys skiing now that they are growing up too. And a trip to New York is high on my wish list!

What is the most memorable destination you have been to?

I lived in the UK for some of my childhood and I loved our regular visits to London. We would leave home in the dark and come home in the dark, always managing to fill the day with sightseeing, lunch and shopping. And we were lucky enough to have friends live in Monte Carlo, so our visit there was pretty spectacular too.

How do you relax?

I love to cook when I have free time and I get great enjoyment out of seeing the kids try new things and be adventurous with food. We also love to go for a drive through the Adelaide Hills on weekends and find somewhere relaxing for lunch. And I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t admit to enjoying a bit of retail therapy too!

How is your ideal way to spend your weekend?

Our weekends in winter generally revolve around kid’s sport, & in summer we enjoy hanging by the pool with friends and their kids. We love to get away to Robe or Hindmarsh Island as a family if we don’t have anything on.

Little list of loves:

My gorgeous family & friends as obvious first choices, but other than that -

  • Laughter
  • Art
  • Indoor plants (I try hard to keep them alive!)

What do you find most satisfying about being a mother?

Watching the boys laughing, playing together and learning new things each day.

When did your love affair with food begin?

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

I have worn her label for about 20 years, love the cuts, the way it fits, her constant ability to re-create each season and I am still wearing her clothes from 7 years ago. People are always commenting on how much they love my outfits…and where did I get them from???

I love to be comfortable when I go out, I hate being too hot or too cold… unfortunately I wear black and a black apron most days with very unflattering footwear… I am comfortable though!

October 21st, 2016

Meet the stylish and clever Brigid Emmett, a Mum to 2 little boys, James (2) and Andy (10 months), wife to Nick and has worked as a Commercial Lawyer in private practice for over 10 years. currently Brigid is loving being a full time mum however she is also excited to embark on future work ventures.

As a mother of young children how do you find time for yourself?

For me it’s a matter of making plans and then sticking to them. I make it a priority during the week to fit in some exercise on my own and to say yes to catching up with my family and girlfriends as often as poss. I do Lofty each week and Kelly Delfos aka FitM.U.M puts me through my paces with her PT sessions which are great. Having a really good babysitter, family close by and a wonderfully supportive husband definitely makes things easier.

What do you find most satisfying about being a mother?

I’m not joking………when both kids eat up all the dinner I’ve made!
Of course there are fights and they have their moments, but knowing every day, in one way or another, I'm championing such precious, inquisitive, cheeky little creatures is pretty special.

What is your favourite bar/restaurant in Adelaide?

Each Thursday night Nick and I try and get out and try somewhere new – though the Pot is hard to beat, good cocktails, yummy food and groovy music.

What is the best advice you’ve been given about fashion?

Be careful wearing all your new clothes at once and make sure your outfit matches the weather.

Who is your style icon?

Serena van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl/Blake Lively for fun. Kate Middleton is faultless.

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

You just know that each season, even before seeing her parade, you’re going to love so many pieces – Sal’s lines are polished, flattering, fun and Aussie owned and made.

How do you approach getting dressed each day?

With 2 little boys, flexibility and comfort is essential – but there's always a way to add a bit of leather, fur or layering. I've been wearing lots of black lately which is forgiving and hard wearing but I'm definitely looking forward to more brights and whites this summer. I don’t get to wear heels as often as I like – and some days I have to make a conscious effort to get out of the “activewear”.

What is your approach to health and wellbeing?

Every morning before brekky we load the kids into the double pusher and go for a walk around our neighbourhood before we get coffee at Nature’s Providore. It's such a positive way to start the day, chat with Nick and to see familiar faces in the street. Nutritious meals, plenty of h2o, exercise, a good night sleep and French Champagne should do the trick.

What is your dream purchase?

To get hold of an original John Olsen painting would be pretty amazing. Otherwise I’d happily settle for a Bulgari necklace....... Squeal!!

What is your dream holiday destination?

I'd love to do the 10-day hike from Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn (Chamonix to Zermatt) followed up by a luxurious stay in an Aman or Soneva Resort - any of them would be heaven.

What is the most memorable destination you have been to?

The scenery and the welcoming and proud nature of the people in Oman in the Middle East are really beautiful. Witnessing a lightning storm over the Al Hajar Mountains one night on our honeymoon was absolutely spectacular.

How do you relax?

Sharing a bottle of Rosè in the sun with Nick and seeing the kids play happily is a heart warmer.

How is your ideal way to spend your weekend?

Cocktails and dinner on Friday night, and on Saturday and Sunday - exploring a new hike, spending time with the kids outside with my family and having anyone else cook.

The Sally Phillips girls traveled to the beautiful Kingsford Homestead, a luxury 5 star retreat in the Barossa Valley to meet up with Leanne and Ellen Ahrens. Leanne who is originally a Barossa girl is married to Stefan, her high school sweetheart and mother to Ellen,19 and Riley, 17. A primary school teacher before having children, followed by interior design studies as you can see her talent throughout the Homestead. Ellen is now living in Adelaide and is studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Adelaide. The SP girls had an amazing time seeing the fabulous Kingsford Homestead and spending time with this gorgeous mother and daughter.

Tell us about Kingsford Homestead

Leanne: We spent years restoring & renovating Kingsford Homestead and I thoroughly enjoyed putting my interior design into practice. My aim was to modernize the Homestead that was built in 1856 but to keep it classic and functional.
We bought Kingsford Homestead in 2009 after it was home to the long running TV series, McLeod’s Daughters. In 2012 we opened Kingsford Homestead as a luxury, 5 star retreat.
We have a lot of local, interstate and international guests. My favourite time is wedding season where families can stay and be hosted by our managers; it feels like home but they don’t have to clean up.

As a mother how do you find time for yourself?

Leanne: Making time for myself is so much easier now that the children are older and independent. Life changes when they get their license, no more being Mum the taxi driver!

What do you find most satisfying about being a mother?

Leanne: The most satisfying part of being a mother has been watching my children grow up and develop, making their own opinions and taking their own steps into adulthood. I was always predicting what they would be like, some of those predictions have come true, some not. They have both definitely exceeded my expectations, I am very proud of them.

What have you learnt from your mother about fashion?

Leanne: I was a bit of a ‘tom boy’ when I was young so it was always a challenge for Mum to get me into a dress. Therefore I guess with much persistence, that is something I learnt from Mum, that dresses look great on girls and it’s nice to wear one. I’m quite happy to wear a dress now!

Ellen: As a child, Mum always used to dress me well so I guess this exposure made me appreciate fashion!

What is your favourite bar/restaurant in Adelaide?

Ellen: My favorite bar would have to be Maybe Mae – once I finally found it! There’s a bunch of restaurants I love– Sean’s Kitchen, Madame Hanoi, Shiki, Ying Chow, Ferment Asian and Takumi Yakitori

Leanne: I have so many fav restaurants it’s hard to choose! Here are a few: Ferment Asia, Hentley Farm, Sean’s Kitchen, Golden Boy, Concubine, Shiki. 2KW would have to be my favourite bar and Pink Moon Saloon is gorgeous too.

Who is your style icon?

Ellen: I don’t really have one, but I follow Gigi Hadid, Man Repeller and Brooke Testino on instagram and love their style.

Leanne: I don’t really have a style icon either but one of my favourite pastimes is people watching; I’m fascinated to see what people put together.

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

Leanne: I love Sally’s prints, the quality of her fabrics, the fit of the pants and the flowing tops and dresses. Most of all I love her amazing neckpieces; I always receive admirable comments when wearing them.

Ellen: I love the unique pieces, that you’ll never be able to find anywhere else! I find that whenever I wear a neckpiece (borrowed from Mum), I always get compliments!

How do you approach getting dressed each day?

Leanne: I start by opening the curtains, looking at the weather outside & on my phone. Then I think about what I’ve got on for the day and my outfit usually always includes a Sally Phillips piece or complete outfit.

Ellen: I check what I’ve got on for the day, the temperature, then dress accordingly.

What is your dream purchase?

Ellen: A Cartier love bangle!!

Leanne: It would have to be original artwork of some of my favourite Australian artists, David Boyd and Gordon Bennett.

What is your dream holiday destination?

Ellen: I’ve always wanted to go to Mexico and the Amalfi Coast. I’d also love to do more of Africa and the Middle East.

Leanne: I still haven’t been to the infamous Amalfi Coast and I’d love to do Croatia’s Adriatic coastline on a fabulous boat.

What is the most memorable destination you have been to?

Leanne: I have lots of memorable destinations, all for different reasons: Peru, Safari in South Africa, Solomon Islands, Greece, Israel, Myanmar and Egypt.

Ellen: There’s lots – Peru, Myanmar, South Africa, Greece, US (especially NYC!).

How do you relax?

Leanne: I enjoy pottering in the garden & growing my own vegetables it’s so satisfying. I also love a sleep/lie in on the weekend when I have time to read & doze, read & doze.

How is your ideal way to spend your weekend?

Leanne: A long lunch in the sun, bed before midnight and a sleep in/lie in. And of course, time with family & friends. Ellen: With friends and family – probably going out on a Saturday night then relaxing on Sunday!!

Little list of loves:

Leanne:
  • Family

October 17th, 2016

Introducing the clever and vivacious Dinah Crowe mother to three beautiful, busy little boys Charlie (7), Cooper (5) and Max (4). Married to the gorgeous and supportive, Jezac– they have been married for eight and a half years and together now for 15 years. Dinah ran the successful catering business Stirring the Pot, for eight years and now keeps very busy with her social media presence, recipe development, presenting at various Adelaide Central Market events and most recent and exciting venture as the Foodie on the new Adelady TV show!

As a mother of young children how do you find time for yourself?

I’m lucky that all 3 of my boys are avid campers and fishermen like their dad so when they go off on their adventures I get some quiet time. Jez and I also make time for one another going on weekends away together and date nights.

What do you find most satisfying about being a mother?

I find it so fascinating that all of the boys came from the same mum, dad and morals however are all SO different. I love watching their large personalities develop and their confidence grow.

When did your love affair with food begin?

Both of my parents are amazing cooks. Mum was known for her knock out sweets and desserts and although dad worked he would always come home and cook a gourmet dinner.

As a foodie what is your go to dish?

When home cooking I love making dumplings with the kids with a raw Asian slaw. When out I can never go past a Ceviche or Steak Tartare.

What is your favourite bar/restaurant in Adelaide?

Bar – La Buvette Drinkery
Restaurant – Sean’s Kitchen

What is the best advice you’ve been given about fashion?

I don’t really follow fashion trends or advice – I dress in comfortable clothing that I feel good in; whether it’s something new or something I’ve had for years.

Who is your style icon?

Lara Worthington

What is your dream purchase?

A new bathroom and a second toilet; 5 people and 1 toilet… Well you can now see why this is my dream purchase and not a fancy handbag! Hahaha

What do you most like about the Sally Phillips label?

That it suits my busy lifestyle has gorgeous layers and length to cover my little lumps and bumps from housing 3 boys, and that I feel fab in each and every piece I put on.

How do you approach getting dressed each day?

I don’t have much time to think about it, with precedence going to getting the kids organised and out the door – so for me it’s usually a skinny leg jean or drop crutch pant, a sneaker, top and jacket or cardi. All quick to throw on but still looking stylish. My style is to be able to wear it during the day with a sneaker but to be able to throw on a heel and turn it into something I can wear out at night. I like the more effortless look.

What is your approach to health and wellbeing?

Eating lots of fresh fruits & vegetables, minimal sugar and preservatives and the odd pot of Cocolat chocolate mousse!
Mental health and wellbeing I am very passionate about. I am very open about my struggles with PND. Talk, support, love and lean on is my motto. I’m very quick to speak to my husband or pick up the phone to call my bestie the minute I feel myself slipping. I feel the more we talk about it the more people will feel less ashamed about mental illness. Life is tough and there are so many pressures, that’s why looking out for number one is so important.

What is your dream holiday destination?

I’ll keep it within Australia as I don’t find the thought of travelling OS with kids dreamy…. So it would be Byron Bay.

What is the most memorable destination you have been to?

Lucky Bay in Esperence, WA. Apart from the gorgeous beaches and scenery, it is where Jezac proposed.

How do you relax?

I actually find it very hard to relax. I’d prefer to always be doing something and on the go. Being in the kitchen and cooking is probably the closest to relax time for me.

How is your ideal way to spend your weekend?

It would be sleeping in with no background noise of kids screaming and crying, followed by breakfast out, champagne lunch with friends and perhaps an afternoon nap.

Instead it is being woken up by kids having a punch on, driving around to school sports, doing numerous loads of washing and tidying my house!!!

Little list of loves:

1. My family & friends
2. Champagne
3. Shopping
4. Botox
5. Beach
6. Coffee
7. Robe

Tell us about your self in a flash:

Loyal, fiercely protective and honest.

Coffee or tea? Coffee
Typical breakfast? Coffee has priority over breakfast!
On your bedside table you’ll find: Cooking magazines & panadol rapid
Exercise of choice: None! But occasionally I’ll go for a walk or a run… like really occasionally!
Book you’re currently reading: I don’t have time to sit down and finish a magazine let alone a book!!! But one I’d like to get to is “Raising Boys” by Steve Biddulph … for obvious reasons!
Heels or flats? Spring Court sneaker
Sunglasses: Quay Australia
Tidy or messy: Tidy
Friday night in or out? In. Usually with friends over a yummy dinner and champagne.

We asked Dinah to share one of her favourite recipes. Here she shows us how to make her delicious chicken sandwiches….

Chicken Sandwiches

4 chicken breast poached & cooled
3T whole egg mayonnaise
1 bunch mint
1 bunch chives
1 bunch chervil
Microplane (fine grate) 2 lemons then juice
Sea Salt to season

In your food processor, blitz chicken breast one at a time until shredded.
In a bowl mix chopped herbs, lemon zest & juice, mayonnaise and seasoning. Mix thoroughly to combine then it's ready to fill your sandwiches with.
Chicken mix will keep for 4 days in an airtight container in fridge.

Since diagnosis Teesh has taken a step back from The White Shed online store and is instead focusing on interior decoration, and her family. We chatted to her about how she is living life to the fullest, making the most of any opportunity that comes her way.

Tell us about something you are passionate about?

I am passionate about raising awareness and the much needed funds to develop an early detection test for ovarian cancer so that early detection may result in more successful and targeted treatment and save lives.

I am currently organising the Adelaide Silver Style Cocktail Party 2016 in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. I am thrilled to have Sally Phillips on board as a Silver Sponsor!

The dads and mums are the helpers and sports coaches etc. When we head to sport on a Saturday or to school my kids are socialising with all our friends kids.

LET US INTRODUCE AMANDA LAMBERT, 37 A PROPERTY VALUER AT MCGEES PROPERTY. SHE IS MARRIED TO SIMON, MUM TO HER SON OLIVER, 7, AND STEP-MUM TO INDIA, 16 AND ZARA, 13.

WE MET WITH STUNNING AMANDA TO GET TO KNOW HER BETTER AND HEAR ABOUT HER BEAUTIFUL NEW RENOVATION…

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET TO A GREAT WORK/LIFE BALANCE?

THE WORK/LIFE BALANCE IS REALLY IMPORTANT AS I BELIEVE IF YOU TRY AND TAKE ON TOO MUCH AND SPREAD YOURSELF TOO THIN YOU FIND YOURSELF LETTING EVERYONE DOWN! I THINK ITS JUST ABOUT KNOWING YOUR LIMITS AND WHEN AN EXPECTATION FROM A CLIENT IS UNREALISTIC ITS BEING ABLE TO SAY SO, SO YOU ARE NOT STRESSING YOURSELF OR LETTING ANYONE DOWN. I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO WORK REMOTELY WITH MINIMAL OFFICE CONTACT WHEN REQUIRED, HOWEVER I MAKE SURE THAT WHEN I HAVE PICKED UP MY SON, THE COMPUTER IS OFF AND HE GETS MY FULL ATTENTION TO TALK ABOUT HIS DAY. SIMON IS THE SAME WHEN HE ARRIVES HOME, THE PHONE IS OFF AND HE WAITS UNTIL OLLIE IS IN BED IF HE NEEDS TO ADDRESS ANY URGENT EMAILS OR ENQUIRIES.

YOU HAVE JUST NEWLY RENOVATED YOUR HOME, WHAT HAS BEEN THE BEST EXPERIENCE? WHAT DO YOU MOST LIKE ABOUT YOUR NEW EXTENSION?

WE WERE SO LUCKY TO HAVE A GREAT ARCHITECT WHO REALLY LISTENED TO OUR NEEDS AND WANTS SO THAT WE ENDED UP WITH OUR DREAM HOME AND NOT HIS! THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT MOMENTS WHEN IT ALL COMES TOGETHER BUT I THINK SEEING THE KIDS FACES WHEN THEY SAW THEIR BEDROOMS FULLY COMPLETED WAS PROBABLY A HIGHLIGHT AND OF COURSE THE FIRST JUMP IN THE POOL! IT WAS 17 DEGREES BUT IT STILL HAD TO HAPPEN!
THE NEW EXTENSION HAS ENABLED US TO INVOLVE EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY ALL AT ONCE, WHICH IS ALWAYS GREAT FUN. WE CAN NOW HOST A DINNER OR LUNCH WHILST OLLIE CAN STILL BE PLAYING WITH A BUDDY, WHILST THE INTRODUCTION OF THE GAMES ROOM HAS PROVIDED AN AREA THAT THE OLDER GIRLS CAN USE FOR RELAXING WITH FRIENDS WITHOUT FEELING WE ARE ON TOP OF THEM! THE POOL AND ALFRESCO AREA AS WELL AS BEING SO PRETTY, ARE ALSO GOING TO BE INVALUABLE IN THE WARMER MONTHS FOR THE SAME PURPOSE.

WHAT DO YOU MOST LIKE ABOUT THE SALLY PHILLIPS LABEL?

SALLY IS JUST SO CLEVER, THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS! THE ABILITY TO LAYER IS SO IMPORTANT IN THE UNPREDICTABLE ADELAIDE WEATHER. BUT I THINK I JUST LOVE THE ABILITY TO GO SO EASILY FROM A CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT TO A COCKTAIL OR DINNER FUNCTION WHEN GOING HOME TO CHANGE IS JUST NOT AN OPTION. THE "DESK TO DINNER" ELEMENT IS CRUCIAL FOR A WORKING MUM AND I ALSO REALLY LOVE THAT ITS DESIGNED AND MADE ETHICALLY WITHIN AUSTRALIA.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM PURCHASE?

MY DREAM PURCHASE WAS THE HOUSE AND EXTENSION HOWEVER I DO HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR BEAUTIFUL TIMEPIECES SO I WOULD HAVE TO SAY A ROLEX WATCH, WHICH IN TIME I WOULD HOPE TO PASS ON TO THE GIRLS. OLLIE HAS HIS DADS VINTAGE CARS!

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION?

MY HUSBAND AND I HAD THE MOST INCREDIBLE TRIP TO HAWAII FOR OUR HONEYMOON AND WE WOULD LOVE TO RELIVE THE MEMORIES WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY, THEY WOULD LOVE IT. I’D ALSO LOVE TO SEE A WHITE CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK, I THINK THAT WOULD BE VERY SPECIAL.

HOW DO YOU RELAX?

EXERCISE IS CRITICAL FOR ME TO CLEAR MY HEAD AND SLEEP WELL, SO I RELAX WITH A QUICK RUN FOLLOWED BY A HOT BATH, A LONG STRETCH AND TIME ON THE COUCH WITH A GREAT BOOK. I LOVE TO READ.

HOW IS YOUR IDEAL WAY TO SEND YOUR WEEKEND?

WE LOVE TO RELAX WITH A LIE-IN AND THE MORNING PAPERS AND THEN A DRIVE DOWN THE COAST TO OUR BEACH HOUSE IS OFTEN ON THE AGENDA WITH A CASUAL LUNCH AT STAR OR GREECE OR ONE OF THE GORGEOUS WINERIES ACROSS THE WAY IN MCLAREN VALE.

July 21th, 2016

WE CHATTED TO THE GORGEOUS PIPPA TO HEAR MORE ABOUT HOW SHE STAYS SO STYLISH + HAPPY IN HER BUSY LIFE…

AS A MOTHER OF YOUNG CHILDREN HOW DO YOU FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF?

TIME FOR MYSELF IS RARE! BUT EVERY MORNING MY HUSBAND GETS KITTY AND LULU UP, GIVES THEM BREAKFAST AND BRINGS ME IN A COFFEE. THAT GIVES ME TIME TO MENTALLY PREPARE FOR THE DAY AND SPEND A FEW QUIET MOMENTS WITH POSEY.

WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST SATISFYING ABOUT BEING A MOTHER?

SEEING MY CHILDREN DISCOVER SOMETHING NEW, OR MASTER SOMETHING WE TAKE FOR GRANTED BUT THAT IS HUGE FOR THEM. I FEEL SO LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO WITNESS THESE LITTLE MOMENTS IN THEIR LIVES. I ALSO LOVE DRESSING THEM ALL IN EXQUISITE (USUALLY PINK) OUTFITS!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BAR/RESTAURANT IN ADELAIDE?

ADELAIDE HAS SOOOOO MANY COOL PLACES NOW! 2KW IS ALWAYS GORGEOUS, BUT MY FAVE IS PROBABLY PEEL STREET. GAVIN AND I LOVE SITTING AT THE BAR AND WATCHING THE AMAZING MEALS BEING COOKED AND PLATED.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY DESTINATION?

SOUTH AMERICA. IT'S THE ONE PLACE I HAVEN'T BEEN TO, BUT HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO.

WHO IS YOUR STYLE ICON?

I LOVE OLIVIA PALERMO'S RED CARPET STYLE WHICH IS POLISHED, BUT STILL HAS EDGE. ALEXA CHUNG IS ALSO MY GO TO GIRL. SHE NEVER GETS IT WRONG.

WHAT DO YOU MOST LIKE ABOUT THE SALLY PHILLIPS LABEL?

I LOVE THE SALLY PHILLIPS LABEL. FOR ME IT'S ABOUT THE LUXE FABRICS, THE CUT AND THE INCREDIBLY WEARABLE STYLE. BUT SERIOUSLY, THOSE NECK PIECES THOUGH!

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM PURCHASE?

I'D LOVE TO BUY A BEACH HOUSE ONE DAY. SOMETHING WITH A VIEW AND LOTS OF ROOMS FILLED WITH BUNK BEDS SO THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR ALL THE CHILDREN AND OUR GUESTS TO COME AND STAY.

HOW DO YOU RELAX?

MY FRIEND JENI, FROM ROAMING ZEN COMES AND TEACHES ME YOGA AT HOME. IT'S THE MOST DIVINE CLASS. TOWARDS THE END WE CAN SOMETIMES HEAR GAVIN WITH ALL THE LITTLE GIRLS RUSHING AROUND BUSILY DOWNSTAIRS, WHILE WE TAKE A MOMENT TO ENJOY THE CALM BEFORE THE (DINNER/BATH/BED) STORM!

HOW IS YOUR IDEAL WAY TO SEND YOUR WEEKEND?

WEEKENDS ALWAYS INVOLVE MARKETS FOR ME. WHETHER I'M IN CAPE TOWN, DARWIN, MELBOURNE OR ADELAIDE, LOCAL MARKETS HAVE ALWAYS FEATURED ON MY WEEKEND AGENDA. I LOVE GETTING BEAUTIFUL FRESH PRODUCE ON A SATURDAY MORNING, THEN GOING HOME TO COOK SOMETHING AMAZING FOR MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
